Bintou Keita and Karamo Bojang, both originally from Gambia, West Africa, founded Seattle Couches with a shared vision of bringing the rich cultural heritage of African and Middle Eastern design to the Pacific Northwest.
Their journey began when they recognized the lack of authentic African and Middle Eastern furniture in the Lynnwood area. Drawing from their deep understanding of traditional craftsmanship and their appreciation for luxury design, they created a unique furniture destination that bridges two rich cultural traditions.
**Bintou**, with her keen eye for design and cultural authenticity, oversees the selection and curation of our furniture collections. Her background in West African textile and furniture traditions ensures every piece in our showroom reflects genuine cultural heritage.

Our Story & Vision
The story of Seattle Couches began in 2020 when Bintou and Karamo noticed a significant gap in the furniture market. While Lynnwood and the greater Seattle area offered many furniture options, there was virtually no representation of the rich furniture traditions from Africa and the Middle East.
Our founders spent years traveling between Gambia, Morocco, Egypt, and various regions of West Africa, building relationships with master craftsmen who have been perfecting their techniques for generations. These artisans create furniture using traditional methods passed down through families, incorporating intricate patterns, premium materials, and the distinctive gold and silver accents that make each piece unique.
What sets us apart is our commitment to authenticity. We don’t simply import mass-produced furniture; we work directly with skilled artisans who create each piece with meticulous attention to detail. Our living room collections feature hand-carved details inspired by traditional African tribal motifs, while ourdining room furniture showcases the ornate geometric patterns characteristic of Middle Eastern design.
